And the week continues here we have book 2 in the series. Embrace and as you can tell by the amazing cover art Gabe is going to be going though some changes! Here some Wicked Reads Reviews
Whether she likes it or not, eighteen year old Celeste Garrett has come to terms with being the Chosen One. She knew having a “normal life” would be tricky, between intense training sessions and epic demonic battles, but she didn’t know at what cost it would come. That is, until a dear friend is harmed by the malicious forces hunting her.
Now, she’d like nothing more than to retreat into a hermit lifestyle to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. But startling revelations, amazing new abilities, and mortifying moments in front of insanely hot guys won’t allow time for that. Soon, Celeste finds herself surrounded by darkness and wondering who she can trust—if anyone.
This is the second book in the gryphon series. It starts up where The Conduit finished and follows the lives of Celeste, Gabe and Kendell as they fall into their lives trying to balance everyday life and fighting evil. Both Kendell and Gabe have it down but Celeste is struggling after what happened with Alec in the previous book. She has basically given up on having a normal life and is focused on everything chosen one related. Enter Caleb the tall dark and gorgeous with bad boy looks and Irish accent celeste is drawn to him.
There is also a new evil in town; no one knows what the new evil is or what its plans are… just what poor celeste needs as she is finally embracing life like a normal girl.
Again another superbly written book that kept me turning pages to see what would happen next. The one liners and quick wit in this book had me laughing out loud I really enjoyed this book…Another 5* from me…
I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH READ THIS SERIES YOU WONT REGRET IT.
5 out of 5
It offers everything I loved about The Conduit. Stacey Rourke continues the fast and fun pace of the first installment but kicks it into high gear. Full of twists & turns, I found myself saying just “one more chapter”. Staying true to the first, this story ended with another cliffhanger that had me thankful that I already had Sacrifice and didn’t have to wait!
I think this has to be my favorite book of the series. Once Celeste has realized being the Chosen One has its perks and definite draw backs, It was interesting seeing how she learns to deal with her “gifts” and how to survive day to day. Seeing how Gabe and Kendall embraced who they have become, and how Celeste struggles with it drew me into the storyline. Great read!
The Garette kids continue on their fight against evil in the second book in the Gryphon series. This time they discover that though they may have defeated one bad guy before, there is a far greater one waiting to attack. Trust is tested throughout this book as our heroine Celeste tries to discover who is on her side and who is out to get her.
Stacey Rourke continues with her trademark humor for this series and I loved how you could feel how uncomfortable some typical teenager moments were for Celeste. I loved the new male characters that were introduced as well as new romances that have begun.
Caleb and Rowan were both great new characters that were introduced. Caleb, oh Caleb—the humor that came out of Celeste’s first interactions with him were priceless. Who wouldn’t react that way to a dark Irishmen that was flirting with you?
First off let me say that this book could not be more perfectly named. Though the storyline you see each character embrace a different accept of themselves and powers. You get loveable character like the Dark Army Glee Club and swoon worthy ones like Rowan and Caleb. I have to say that I really love Kendall with her total fashion obsession and cute little pet names it hard not to. I play on getting this in hard back for my sister as I think there is they are the perfect YA paranormal and I am just starting to get into paranormal and reading in general(she is a teenage) So I feel she will relate the most to Keni. I on the other hand find myself really to Chosen one. Because like her I would aspect my duty but question using my powers unless in a fight every single time, esp if what happened to her Alec happened to some I cared about deeply. The one character that gives a ton of laughs and I wish was in my life is Grams she is awesomeness. Those kids need to learn some things from her. Once again Stacey has given us a book that you will fight yourself to put down once you pick it up. The end is something leaves you hanging which we all love in books because that means that there is more. Well thankful book 3 is already out and so I am off to go start it. Thank You Stacey for giving me a series I can’t seem to put down.
Embrace is the second book in the Gryphon series and picks up where the first book left off. Celeste is trying to adapt to her life as the Conduit while still hoping she can have a “normal” life like her brother Gabe and sister Keni.
Embrace has all the wacky characters I fell in love with in Conduit, but the plot in this book was much more complex than the Conduit. There were many characters who seemed to have duplicitous motives, so Celeste (and the reader) never knew who was bad and who was good. Celeste continues to meet demons and finds out that not all demons went over to the dark side willingly and fights her instincts on which demons she can trust.
Embrace is fast-paced and has something for everyone – heroines, heroes, villains, danger, demons, mystery and romance. For me, the best part of this series continues to be the humor the author uses throughout the book and the unique storyline that focuses on love, trust and the inherent goodness of people. The book is worth a read just to become acquainted with the Dark Army Glee Club (yep, it’s just what it sounds like) and wild and wacky Grams.
Like the Conduit, Embrace also ends with a cliffhanger, and it’s a doozy, so consider yourself warned.
Embrace is a great continuation of the series. Stacey Rourke has invented a cast of characters that could keep her fans engrossed and chuckling for years. I give this book 4 stars and can’t wait to begin book three, Sacrifice.
All 18-year-old Celeste Garrett wants is to head off to college and make those fun, yet ill-advised, choices college kids are known for. And maybe to spend some time with the hot cameraman she just met. Instead, because of a pact her ancestors made in the 17th century with a mythical creature, she has to save the world.
The Conduit is a thrilling YA story that is an action packed adventure, and starring a wonderfully well-developed cast of characters. I was drawn to the sarcasm and humor that the author timed perfectly in the many different situations the characters faced. The Conduit is a great way to start a series. The plot is well thought out and left me wanting more. A must read for any YA and Adult fans of anything mythical.
