Now The wonderful ladies of Wicked Reads where asked to review the book, so we received a copy exchange for HONEST review here is what the 6 ladies plus we all have to say about this book

All 18-year-old Celeste Garrett wants is to head off to college and make those fun, yet ill-advised, choices college kids are known for. And maybe to spend some time with the hot cameraman she just met. Instead, because of a pact her ancestors made in the 17th century with a mythical creature, she has to save the world.

While normal kids are slamming energy drinks and cramming for exams, Celeste will get her adrenaline rush fighting a fire breathing dragon. She wants to meet friends in the quad to exchange lecture notes, but first she must exchange blows with a shape shifting demon on the rooftop. Life isn’t always fair for a superhero, but at least she doesn’t have to do it alone. With her brother and sister as sidekicks, they alternate between saving lives and getting on each others’ nerves. Together the trio encounters unspeakable odds, mystical forces and comes face-to-face with an image that will haunt them forever—their grandmother in a leopard print bikini.

This book is about Celeste and her journey to becoming the “Chosen one”

Celeste her brother Gabe and her sister Kendall find out that they are basically everyday superheroes and have to save the world from an evil army, why them you say? Well that would be because of an ancient alliance that was made long before they were born. What does it mean for them? Well superpowers and the threat of death every which way they turn…

This is the first book in the gryphon series and shows how the move into their roles of fighters of evil.

Okay time for me to gush… I loved this book and will give it a full wammy of 5* because what was not to love I found it to be a page turner I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next… I was kept interested throughout the whole book and didn’t feel like in faltered one tiny bit. It was written extremely well I also felt that I got to know each of the characters in their own way through the book…

In the YA paranormal genre this has become one of my favorite series

5 out of 5
I was instantly hooked!
Stacey Rourke tells a great story full of emotion, danger, refreshing sarcastic humour, and a touch of romance. How could I leave out a zebra print muumuu wearing Gram with a witty sense of humour. The Conduit is a fast paced read with a cliff hanger that had me immediately starting the 2nd novel in the series as soon as I finished.

This book is a great read, something my teenage daughter and I could both enjoy.  Right from the beginning I liked how the characters were written.  I liked watching them evolve throughout the story.   I loved Gabe’s humour, Kendall’s sassy side and Gram’s snarky-ness (is that even a word?  if not it should be just for her!).  Grams cracked me up from the beginning! Seeing how Celeste started the book and the growth she had through till the end had me routing for her.  The paranormal/normal story mix really works in this book.  Its a great read that can be shared with kids and adults.

This was a great introduction to a unique series.  Stacey Rourke has created a story setting that is one of a kind.  This book was a fast paced read and it was funny!  Too often it seems like young adult novels are filled with brooding teenagers and it was a breath of fresh air to read a story that centred on such a strong heroine.  Celeste Garette is funny and takes everything in stride.  I think this book would be a great read for any teenager.

There were super powers, ancient mythical beings, demons, fighting—you name it.  But, what was wonderful is the delivery of all those.  Stacey Rourke brought it all to you with humor via a very determined heroine.

I loved when Celeste’s brother explained why he believed she was the Conduit and not one of the other siblings. 🙂

5 Stars

Be ready to enter the everyday life f the Garnet’s until a nice little wooden idol forever changes their lives. The find out the things that go bump in the night are not as fake as we lead ourselves to believe. They are each bestowed a gift, Kendall aka Wings with cool healing power, well big Gabe gets to turn into a totally cool loin. Cee Cee is the chosen one kinda like Buffy but she get crazy power upgrades at the perfect times. There of course an oversee to help them on the journey. And all while living under the unilmate cool grandma. I like that Cee Cee is not the typical YA Paranormal girl but different and awkward and proud of it. I want a sister like Kendall though her power is kind of cool and so different. I am now off to start Embrace.

The Conduit is labeled Young Adult, but it’s a wacky mix of young adult, fantasy, paranormal, humor and just plain good storytelling that will appeal to young and old.  The premise is unique in that 18 year old Celeste has been chosen as the “Conduit” to a Gryphon (a magical creature in another plane).  Celeste’s 20 year old brother, Gabe, and her 16 year old sister join her Celeste in trying to save the world by fighting demons, beasts and other evil creatures who are trying to end the world.

I don’t read many young adult books, but do read lots and lots of paranormal books and the story is surprisingly unique.  Most paranormal or fantasy books are dark, but although there is violence (after all, they are battling evil creatures including dragons and demons), the book is surprisingly positive.  The three main characters are affectionate and caring, and although they are battling evil, they still manage to care for each other and their family and friends.  This book does end with a cliffhanger, but I knew that going in, so instead of being disappointed, I was ready to start the second book in the Gryphon series,
